Wyatt Gatling

The Wyatt Gatling Company opened in the winter of 1969. There had been so many requests for special and unique motorcycle parts it seemed like a business ready made for success. The products they were asking for were not readily available from their dealers and had to be made from modifieed original components. Wyatt decided to provide local chopper builders with the fabrication of gas tanks, fenders, frames, hard tails, handle bars, exhaust pipes, sissy bars, and at one time "chicken racks". The motorcycle aftermarket as it is known today with its large aftermarket dealer network, was still in it's infancy.

The days were long. Most days Wyatt Gatling was found at the shop 7 days a week. Customers were demanding new and innovative products for their stock motorcycles. They came to the shop to get them done. Wyatt became known as an originator of new designs for the most common motorcycle parts. With basic metalworking equipment, he flame cut (before plasma and laser) with an Ultra-Graph by Heath Engineering. This allowed metal patterns to be traced for reproduction. Wyatt cut, formed, stamped, bent, welded and polished the metal parts. Equipment had to be motified to do what he wanted for it. There was always a better method, better tooling or a better idea in the works. The work done then became the foundation for the WYATT GATLING Company as it exists today and the products that are showcased.
